Hi, my little girl started laying 8 days ago, an we have had 8eggs off her (1 per day) up to now about 3 of the eggs have been really big and heavy, when I crack to eat they have double yoaks, it's lovely an amazing to see, but I have never known it neither has anyone ave spoke to, is it normal????

iv had 1 double yolker out of my 4 girls but never seen one till then in duck eggs

I don't know about ducks, I expect someone else will tell you about them, but it's quite common in pullets just 'learning' to lay their first eggs - what is actually two egg yolks get somehow coated with shell and turned into one egg. What surprises me, Paddy, is that you've had three double-yolkers out of 8 when she's been laying every day. I thought that usually a double-yolk egg is basically two day's worth, that is you get her missing a day and then producing a double egg. Obviously you've been looking after her so lovingly that she's really trying her best to please you! I'm glad to hear that you've managed to enjoy some of her eggs, though, so her efforts aren't being wasted!

Yes mine had these to start with, I wouldn't worry unless she seems distressed or lays thin or no shell eggs :) x

She hasn't laid one now for weeks are I loved the double goal eggs they were brilliant, will it ever happen again or was it just a sign of unstableness due to only just started laying do you think?
