Blimmin' broodies!

I have a show on Sunday, Devon Fanciers down near Exeter, a lovely show. Well, I thought about time to have a look at the girls I plan to take...well picked them up one by one to find the first one looking quite smug, picked her up and thought....hmmm a bit warm, she has a completely bald tummy! So did the next one a rather beautiful black girl I was taking...Piglet well...she has been basking in mud...in despair I turned to Magnus my huge boy, I probably will take him, only when I picked him up...he has a slightly bent keel bone, and new feathers sprouting everywhere, think he is going through a partial moult. Plus he is in a breeding run now and is so besotted with his girls I don't think he is eating much

Sigh......trying to get the timing right sometimes is nigh on impossible!!!

Typical

Can you not leave the broody but wash the black and give the boy a bit of tuna for protein to hope he grows a couple feathers in the few days?

Seriously it got worse, every single bantam I was taking has got a bald tummy!!! :o Washed one bantam, and she just sat down and growled, as broody as can be, unbelievable....I can't take her even though she is gorgeous, don't think the judge will apreciate being shrieked at! :-)07
So I had to take this lass out of the breeding pen, she is lovely, chatty enjoyed her bath, has not stopped eatiing and gossiping, AND she hasn't got a bald tummy!.

So I am just taking Sugar. wish her luck she is very excited!.. :DSugar1resized.jpg

She's looking really lovely - have a great day - mine are looking great at the mo as well have entered a few at Peebles show (1340 ,entries) - but they haven't got a hubby - PLEASE foxy - I'm getting desperate - I hatched chicks from the eggs after the male had gone - and they are all girls - not ONE single male :-)06 :-)06 the eggs afterward are all clear - so too late

Hope Sugar does you proud Foxy, she is just lovely- a real bundle of fluff. Let us know how you did, as I guess she is already penned and awaiting judging.......

Sugar looks great :D How did you get on Foxy?????

Would have like to have done this show ourselves, but missed closing date (& conveniently tied in with visiting family for the weekend  )

It was a wonderful show, I stewarded for the SF judge, so was really busy all morning. I got a first and 2 seconds really pleased as I only took a few birds owing to them just not being ready. In the rush of the morning forgot my camera though... :? However, there was a photographer there who took some pictures for me, so hopefully will post those when they arrive, have got loads on my iphone, so will try and download those too!
It really is a nice show and a great cafe upstairs for a good cooked breakfast! :D

Well done Foxy :-)08 look forward to the piccies. Must have been really good stewarding, so much new info.

Well done, Hope Sugar got a first card. :-)17

Actually Sugar got a 2nd, that was fine, she wasn't really ready as her moult hadn't quite finished. The hen that got a first was lovely! Sparticus my beautiful gold laced orpington got a first, and he is only 7 months old a real special boy! :D

Is Sugar a Favorelle? Just asking because I have a Favorelle named Sugar that looks just like her :)
