does size matter

Hi , i am new to this site so bare with me if i get the general idea wrong.
I have a question that perhaps one of you guys can answer regarding small pekin banty hens and large orpington cocks. The question is maybe a bit delicate but has to be asked,..............
Is it alright, considering the size and weight difference, for my Orpington cocks who are rather large to tread my beautiful but rather tiny Banty hens , obviously nature is nature, but i am worried that there may be issues regarding the weight of the cocks. I may just be a bit paranoid. I do worry that he is over doing it, he was seen to chase one of the girls around the garden for a few minutes this morning, my wife saw this and was worried saying that the poor little thing looked petrified when she had flown up on to the perch out of his reach........

Yes Bantyfan, size does matter and you risk major external and internal injury of your bantam hens if they are trodden by a large cockerel. We have one bantam Wyandotte that is accessible to an Orpington. We did have two and one died suddenly and that may have been the cause, don't know. Usually they are too small and fast for him to catch. The bantam leghorn hens are too small and fast for anything to catch, except a bantam leghorn cockerel.
 
Chrismahon, sorry about that i am watching the tv at the same time as typing and hit a wrong key,.
as i was saying we will have to seperate the boys and girls. In reality we will have to get rid of the cockerels, its a shame as all three of them are stunning looking birds [Gold laced Orpingtons], but unfortunately they where supposed to be hens , [well we hoped they would be hens].

Hi...your post made me laugh as I had near role reversal a year ago
I had a Silkie bantam cock trying to get it on with a Buff Orpington hen..like a jockey on a horse...he couldnt make it stick if you see what I mean :D but never mind he found some bantams of his own in the end....bless him

I agree with Chris - not a good idea. Damage can occur.
