The wind has been howling around my place overnight and I am dreading this morning! Another hour or so and I can go down and see what damage there is. My leanto outside the back door has a roof panel lifting - heaven only knows what has happened down on the yard! At least my electricity has stayed on - I've got the incubator on and chicks in the brooder already! Think it might be wise to scratch my head and work out a way of keeping the chicks warm in front of the fire should push come to shove!

That said I am sure that there are many people (judging by the pictures I saw on telly yesterday) that are far worse off than me - but for some reason it just doesn't seem real when you see it on screen, only when you are standing amongst your coops wondering how on earth you can fix them!

i think we all need this wind to stop , i have secured down some of the tarpualin around the perimeter of the main fencing which i use as a wind breaker but the rest has had to stay down . thankfully one of my bosses let me pop out quick during the day to check them as i only work over the road and they were fine , and no damage done down the stables thats a biggggggggggggg relief as we kept most the horses in today but someone down my road lost the roof of thier extension on the roof of the house :o :o 2 fire engines and a massive cherry picker was there i wasnt going to walk the dogs but i had to go see what the fireengines were doing { wasnt being nosy much } and then walked over the common to find my farmer friends has lost one of his barns the whole thing as gone i just hope and pray there was no cows in there as he wasnt around he only got home at 4,30 ish tonight and saw the damage have offered to go over the weekend to help clear up hes not at all happy .

And I thought we had problems loosing two fence posts that need digging out, replacing and the netting re-fixed!! The coops didn't blow over either, as I haven't bought the fixing hooks needed so we moved them to be a bit more sheltered.

Oh, and the greenhouse slid 1" on its base but didn't fall off fortunately -the bantams are in there!

looks like it could be easing of now according to the latest weather report , at least with this sort of thing it can show you were you make mistakes like with me using tarpaulin as windbreakers ahh nope not a good idea but when the real stuff goes up at the end of the month i will know to batten it length ways along the middle as well as nailing it down , also i really do need to look at screwing 2 of my houses to a main support post but thats annoying if you want to move the house and this weekend i need to work out how to keep my 2 large doors fully closed on the main house they are just simply 4'4 each and i use 2 bolt locks to shut them but today i noticed that the wind was able to open them slighty .

It's not as bad as I feared - five fence panels down, the roof covering off on my big laying shed, a huge water drum (fortunately empty) blown off it's plinth, missed some timber and came down between it and the neighbours fence, missing all the coops! Feed drums on their sides, gates blown open again and chickens everywhere, but none of it serious, more nuisance value thank heavens!

But that wind was seriously scary this morning, and I am not one to be easily scared! Thankfully it is quieter this evening, just very cold here.

all i kept saying today was roll on summer think i perfer a heatwave   thankfully i finish work at 10.45 am tomorow as i need to have all animals done for 3pm as i have my mri scan later afternoon so i get the chance to give the dogs a good walk as they havent had one for a few days now .glad no ones had no real damage done well so far .

the tramerline has been blown across garden but but all this wind and rain sand blasting my patio iv not had to sweep

Oh my goodness, you have all had it bad. I thought it was bad here but fortunately no damage, we have very tall trees around us & was so worried one would come down through the roof!!! Only real damage around here is a tree down across the road but police cordened it off & everything OK.

My chooks have a tarpaulin over the end section of their run & stood up to the gusts, held down with bungee ties & good old cable ties, spooked them everytime a gust lifted it but only noise.

Thankfully today all calm, hope it is wherever you are too.

round my parts you could of easily of mistaken today for a spring day is been wonderfull .
