Could I enlist your help with 10 questions in a small survey that I am conducting

Survey - http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CY39YVB

Next Wednesday I will be attending a meeting on Notifiable disease control. The size of the Backyard Poultry community will be guessed at, the number of birds and breeds kept will be guessed.

It is not good enough. The survey that I have posted on Survey Monkey is anonymous and is designed to obtain a very basic idea of numbers and breeds kept and why. Please help me, I will ensure that you get to see a summary of the results in due course along with a report of the meeting.

"Hi David,

I have completed the Survey. Please feel free to post this information and the link on the forum, just add a line saying you've cleared it / got permission or words to that effect..... Tim"

Hi, David, good to see you on Poultrykeeper Forum. I've already done your survey on the other forum where you posted, but I couldn't get the link to come active on here when I checked it. I don't know if this is the fault of my iPad, or whether the link is broken somewhere. My iPad seems OK with other links I've followed.

i filled it in will be very interesting in seeing the results i'll keep an eye out for them , but i had to tick pets, rescue, an farm birds  although i see my girls as pets an treat them as pets i also know that they are farm animals as i have them to produce food for me and also half of them are rescues wasnt sure if i needed to tick all the boxes :-)05

Link to the survey should work below..

Some people I sent this to keep birds for exhibition and had difficulty answering but I'm sure it won't skew the results that much ;-)

Wouldn't accept an estimate of numbers for chickens and ducks and it's difficult to put an accurate number when you've got lots.

Completed anyway & good luck with it.

Done it too - it was the wor "Survey" at the beginning of the link that meant it wouldn't work. I'll cpmplete it again for my friend as she' not on either forum.

My grateful thanks to all those who completed this simple survey. I will bear exhibition birds in mind when I try another. Terminology is everything but equally I do not want it too wordy.

The information you have provided will be invaluable. I shall get it posted at the end of the week.

Thank you ,

David

I see that my week has dragged on a bit, sorry about that.

This is brief summary of the results.
BACKYARD POULTRY SURVEY RESULTS – FEBRUARY 2013
Preliminary results
89 chicken keepers completed my survey. They had a total of 2.764 chickens which is just about the size of a small commercial free range flock looked after by 1 farmer.

About 80% of you did not have enough chickens in the flock to have to register on the GB Poultry register.

Most of you ate the eggs laid by your chickens whereas just under a third ate the birds, I assume meat type breeds!

Two thirds of you thought of your hens as pets and less than a third considered them to be farm animals. Legally they are farm animals and this has important consequences from a disease control and food safety perspective.

A third of you were honest enough to admit that you could not name the Notifiable diseases. Well as a bit of fun I have put a Notifiable disease quiz on my website under “Seminars and technical” - http://poultryhealthcentre.com/index.php/seminars-and-technical-information

Thank you to all those who assisted in this survey.
David
