hi i live in cumbria and i was wondering where i can find some day old chicks. I have some land and my wife and daughter would like some chicks can anyone help please

I guess it's a little too early in the season for most people to be hatching, most birds are taking a rest at the moment from laying with the short days - Spring is the time to find lots of chicks up for grabs but keep in mind you will get on average 50% males and you will find these very hard to rehome and will probably need to dispatch them.

Chicks are delightfull,you could always consider legbars,they are autosexing,so you can pick only females.

With day old chicks you will need heat lamps to keep them warm, and unless you get an auto sexing breed as Tim says you could end up with alot of cockerels.
