Day off today, OH is pottering in garden aided and abetted by her clucking supervisors, when she hurtles into kitchen yelling "Dakota's lots of"
We have had a lovely afternoon watching all the Dakota's doing practice runs for Daks over Normandy on Wednesday. Being going over in groups of 3-4 then going back to Duxford with Spitfire escorts, then going around again.
Way too much exercise running about getting pics as they went over. 34 in total, all looking polished and lovely

Most of them are not that good, bit blurry and they were flying into the sun. I will try for some better ones on Weds when we are going to watch the official fly over, which is Duxford-Colchester-Southend-Maidstone-Eastbourne-France. so if anyone is on that flightline eyes to the skies. They are due over Southend Pier at 14.29. We are going to go over to Kent and watch from All Hallows opposite as the sun will be behind us.
The flight times and route are on the Daks over Normandy website for anyone along the route.

How exciting, that must have a been a sight to behold, I don't know why I get so emotional seeing aircraft en masse, I don't get the same feeling from boats and ships. I am going to look up the route to see if it goes near any friends in Sussex and family in Normandy.

Had a few go over yesterday, and OH had the BBMF Dakota fly low across Rainham Marsh reserve. Plus I also met an old boy with his daughter at the bus station, in his 90's he is a parachute veteran of of the Normandy landings and on Weds he is going to do the jump again, in his words "well it will be a bit easier hopefully as no one will be shooting at me" What a privilege to shake his hand

No I have booked a day off and we are going to watch the fly over. Going to All Hallows on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. They will be flying over Southend Pier and we will station ourselves on opposite side on the river wall. Decided on this so we would have the sun behind us. But it looks as though it will be cloudy rather than clear. Still at least it is not windy or rainy which would put a stop to it.
