On Wednesday I creosoted my coop, having found some "proper" creosote in the garage (left behind by the previous owners).
I was happy this morning to see the rain water beading & running off the wood rather than soaking in, but this evening I found what looked like an oil slick around the bottom of the coop.

The section of the run with the coop in it has been fenced off, much to the hens' disgust (they're having to sleep & lay their eggs in the greenhouse), so they can't get near the oil slick. Should I be concerned about it, or will it just disperse into the ground when the weather dries up?

Is it possible to sort of scrape it up? Then maybe put some sand or something on top?
I would be concerned about the hens getting it on their feet, or digging around in it.

Hmm. I suppose I could take the top layer of soil from around the outside of the coop & replace it with some from the flower beds. The problem then would be the soil underneath the coop, which I can't reach. :-)19
Wouldn't the girls have the sense not to dig in ground that smelled of creosote?
