i put a post on here about my wee little millifluer bantam having a closed eye and on the first vet visit i was told she had an ulcer on the eye so was given eye drops for her she seemed to get better then this saturday i was in the run for over an hour in the morning trying to sort out who was going to hatch the eggs and where when i decided to leave them all for a bit and go out so i went and got petrol which took no more then 20 mins when i got back to the run little tia's bad eye was ripped in blood and it looked like it had been bubbling with blood so i called the vets they told me to get there right away which i did and they cleaned her up etc etc { i ddint dare touch it as i pertified her eye had been pecked out by one of the others } but there was no obvouis wound except a very very very weeny little stratch which to me surely could not of coursed that much blood anyway the vet who i have never dealt with came back and said shes showing signs of myco in that eye { no other sypmtoms what so ever within her but her eye is looking a little cloudy but no bubbles ] so shes on another form of eye drops and ornicure which i have been told is pretty good with myco also read up on it today { tried it about amonth or so ago on another bantam and it cleared her bubbly eyes up with in 48 hrs } although little tia is very happy and cheery and even eating well and drinking i have totally shut her and her sister way within the little coop with attached run just to be sure but now her sister is starting to keep one of her eyes shut just that bit more and its really worring me also when putting them to bed she was a little quiet and huffed up but i dont know if that was due to being out in this gross cold wind we have at the mo ,so i have come online to read up on anything and everything i can find and i found a pdf file from practical poultry and dealing with myco etc and it says about being clean and using iodine for washing bowls etc so i am going to sort out some tubs that i can keep iodine water in to drip thier bowls etc each night and leave to dry but i was wandering about making myself some foot dips so that i can use them before i enter each section of the run but i am not sure how to do it without the girls drinking it i really want to step things up but is that going a bit far do you think :-)05 .
tia an mea are my little babies so i will do anything for them well lets put it this way if they could be house chickens and i lived on my own without dogs then they would be pampered to death with luxury
