commercial broiler production in the UK

Hello, I am an agriculture student and I am inquiring as to what are the most popular commercial breeds of broiler chicken grown in the UK.
I am also interested in learning more about the long term direction of the broiler production industry in the UK.
I'm having a difficult time finding worthwhile information so any resources and help you are able to provide me will be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time. Take care.

Hi Benm,I think you are in wrong place as I do not know anybody on this forum who would have broilers.I gues produsents on this scale do noe advertize them self.In this forum people mostly trating them as a pets and sawing batery hens so you need to look in other places,sorry.

There are a lot of very well informed people who contribute to this site, I'm sure sooner or later the answers will roll in, along with suggestions.
I am just a chicken lover, who keeps layers for eggs and pleasure, and Pekin bantams for the pure delight of them in the garden.
Someone will know something about broilers, though, and point you in the right direction for information.

You'd need to do a trawl on the net for the kind of information you're looking for and the best you could hope for are links such as benm has posted. Broiler production as I'm sure you know is a highly specialised commercial enterprise. We are at best enthusiastic amateurs !
