Hello everyone :-)99

I have two chicks (12 & 15 weeks) as I havent raised chicks before I just wondered when it is safe to introduce them to treats like corn/mealworm?

As long as it's only very small amounts and they are able to digest the corn..having grit available or free-range it should be fine. Just be careful when coming up to POL they are on a suitable feed ration in order to build calcium stores not fat for laying! :D

Make sure the corn is ground small otherwise they could develop an impaction of the crop or gizzard Tallulah. Over here they sell fine ground mixed corn for chicks over 6 weeks and we feed that to the adults as it takes them far longer to eat it, so eat far less but are just as happy.

At 12 & 15 weeks they are well able to eat a suitable amount of corn. They will probably have found bigger stuff to eat naturally by now.
Many get corn from around a week old and it doesn't seem to harm them but they do need access to grit and it does need to be only part of the diet. Ditto insects/grubs.
