Can anyone tell me if there is a "certificate of good health" available or a certificate of recognition for poultry breeders? I am trying to get an import permit for a very small quantity of hatching eggs and one of the requirements is a 'health' certificate - any information on this would be appreciated.

Chris will be able to help you with this. He imported a lot of hens to France & had to go through a similar process...

It depends on the exporting country, and how many hatching eggs. The exporter for example the UK would need a license from an approved vet in order to export hatching eggs. The license requires certain blood tests to be completed (depending on the country the eggs are being exported too ) and this license has a finite period until the birds need to be tested again.

You will need a certificate from the point of origin Cherrycoop if you were in the EU. For hatching eggs they need a certificate to say that the breeding group was free of illness and kept totally separate from any potential infection (any other chickens). The alternative is to illegally import them in a supermarket box as if they were for your consumption. In the EU they test for Salmonella, but only the 4 strains that can affect other chickens, not the other two that affect humans. Why I don't know?
