Sorry to be a pain but can you tell me if there is a delay in posting comments?

Everyone else seems to be able to post to my thread but there seems to be a delay in my responses. Perhaps I'm just being an idiot but a response would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Shirley

Hi Shirley,
I haven't experienced that problem. Perhaps you can send a PM (private message) to one of the moderators and they could assist?

Hi Shirley,
I dont know why this is happening, as on this forum we don't moderate posts from new members before posting, as some forums do. When you click on Submit, do you get to a box which tells you your post has been successful and inviting you to view it?
If not, you should try a PM to Poultrykeeper Admin, (ie Tim, who is in charge of all the software) as i'm sure he will help you. Just click on Poultrykeeper Admin, (username in red letters at the top of the Index page,) and then choose the option to Send A Personal Message.

Thanks ducksgeesechooks and Marigold.

I realise I'm new here, I'm still finding my way around your Forums and I'm sorry to be a pain. I just can't figure out why my comments appear to have been moderated.

I'll drop Tim an email tomorrow evening and see if he can sort it out.

Thank you!

Shirley

Not sure when it actually appeared but certainly visible by 12.10 when I did my last check for posts.

After you have posted the system should return you to the topic you were on, and display your post. My firewall prevents automatic redirection so I have to do it manually. I also find it helps to use the browser refresh button.

Just posted the above and realised that the clock on the forum has not been reset since Sunday. It's actually 12.15 but this will display as 1.15. when I hit submit - is that the problem Shirley or is it that you can't see your post when submitted?

New members posts are not moderated on this forum. You can set your time zone through the "User Control Panel" and scroll down to board preferences, check you have the correct time zone and that the summer time box is unchecked. Hope that helps! :D

Just to check, Shirley - when you want to start a new post, or to add to a thread, you can get an active box by either clicking on Post Reply (red box bottom left of screen) or Quick Reply, (just below the previous post.) To post what you have written you click on the Submit box at the bottom of the text box you are using. If you click on the red Post Reply box, which is still visible below the line, your post disappears into thin air and a new empty response box comes up. When you click on Submit, a new screen appears, 'Your message has been posted successfully', and inviting you to click on a link that lwill instantly display it within the thread. Is this what is happening for you?
If starting a new topic, you go to the relevant section from the Index page, and click on New Topic, top left. A new screen comes up. You have to start by typing in a title for the new thread, then proceed in the same way once you've typed your post, ie click Submit.

Thanks Foxy - Just reset my time so hopefully that will correct the hour.

Thanks Marigold - I usually use "Quick Reply" but lost one post early one presumably becasue I clicked the re POSTREPLY instead of Submit. I'll make sure I don't do that again!

I have found that new posts in the Welcome section don't show on the 'new posts' search until someone has replied to them. So I now check the last post date in that section when shown on the home page.

Thanks so much for your help guys! I'll try the clock reset thingie.

I was pretty sure it was just me being an idiot.

I think a new forum or website is always a bit strange at first, at least I always find them so. It's a bit like driving a new car - when we last got a different (not new) one, kindly passed on to us by our daughter, it seemed to have an awful lot of gears, 6 instead of 5, the gears were all sort of tight and didn't slide into each other. I couldn't get into reverse without nearly wrenching my arm off, and reverse was in the wrong place, diagonally opposite to where it ought to have been, all up in the air somewhere beyond First, so I was never sure if I was going to move backwards or forwards. Worst of all, the car was really bossy, flashed and squealed if you hadn't done up your seat belt, bolted you in with central locking as you drove off down the road at 10mph, and screamed with fear when you reversed too near to the side of the garage. I spent so much time nervously watching the display that told me what gear I should be in, that my driving was even more erratic than usual. It was nearly a year before I stopped mourning the demise of my elderly Ford Focus with the sloppy gears and tolerant nature. However, in time I got the hang of it all, and I hope you won't take so long as that to find your way around on here!

I'm sure I'll settle in given time. I'm happy for the regular Forum members to point and laugh in the meantime - it's fine, I'm the first to laugh at myself anyway and I have a rather thick skin. :)

I'm already starting to feel at home here and I like everyone's sense of humour and the 'down to earth' approach.

I'm in danger of seriously liking it here. I know, I'll call a therapist!
