I can't find any info that tells me if ducks or geese can get Mareks. I thought I read somewhere that turkeys can get it but not sure. Anyone know?

I've never heard of any of them getting Mareks. Ducks & geese seem to generally have less health problems than chickens.

Ah! 'steepleducks' have left a message on your ansafone regarding possibly getting Pilgrim goslings next spring. Thanks for that - it's reassuring.

No, they can't get Marek's disease because it is a Herpes virus, specific to one species. Most at risk are hens coming up to POL and cockerels of a similar age. The genetic pre-disposition will also play a part. Some breeds like Silkies and Sebrights are particularly prone to getting it.

Moved this to Chickens Health section BTW.
