HI
my light sussex has become broody, so i decided to buy 3 fertilised eggs which arrived this morning and i ordered them yesterday.
I was wondering if they would still be viable after not being warm for at most 24 hours.
They came in polystyrene.I have put them under the hen and she is happily sitting on them.
I did speak to the company who supplied the eggs and they said that they would be ok but i just wanted to check and see what you seasoned poultry keepers think.
How long can an egg withstand not being sat on. I thought that if a hen left her eggs for more than 25 mins then they were in trouble!!

Hello, the eggs will be fine- they wont develop until they are incubated- idealy, you should rest them for 24 hours if posted but too late now :) Eggs can be stored for two weeks and still hatch- although the longer you leave them the lower the fertility.
regards, David :)
