Hi All,

I added 2 new girls to my little flock, a cream legbar and (what I was told) a buff sussex. I think, however, she is a buff sussex cross with a cream legbar coz of her 'hair-do'. The lady I got her from had loads of different chicken breeds in together so it could be anything. I am getting blue eggs and olive eggs so that is another thing that points me towards her being possibly crossed with a cream leg bar.

Does anyone have a more educated guess than me? No particular reason, just curious! :)

If she's laying blue or olive eggs then definitely a Legbar cross. My B.S lays Sussex eggs ie pale cream. Does she look like a B S? Ie like my avatar? Is she bigger than a Legbar?
What an interesting hybrid, can we have a photo?

Marigold, there is a photo attached to my orginal question, though not sure if if everyone can see it.
Thank you cuwiar, we think she is a buff sussex x cream legbar! An interesting mix! We got her as we liked her colouring, but it looks like she might be giving us funky olive eggs too. Will have to sit in the garden and watch her (maybe when its not so cold) to see for sure!

Hi Ermyntrude, sorry I just looked quickly at my phone using the Tapatalk app and missed the little box to click on to show me the photo.
What a LOVELY bird! She looks as if she has all the pretty points of both breeds. The Legbar 'hat' is lovely, and the muted effect on the Sussex black hackles is very attractive. How big is she?

She's gorgeous - Love the hairdo - which does point to a Cream Lebar cross - who cares! She is lovely and olive eggs to boot can't be bad! :)

Hi Marigold, she stands about the same height as my cream legbar but is heavier looking, thicker set if that makes sense (sorry using horsey terms to describe a chicken!).
