hi im big al and new to the forum.
i have two ducks that have adopted me and my dog off a local pond near to me
i think they are around 8 to 10 week old.short story took dog out on field near to where
i live dog noticed these 2 little ducklings on pond near to bank but they could not get out
of water bank was to high and they had around 10 rats running around them.so i caught them
and moved them to another part of the pond so they could get in and out of water.as i got back to car to
go home a woman and her husband said to me are they with you so i turned round and they had followed
me and my dog back to the car so i took them home.ive had them now for 8/9 week and they are
on there first moult. one is greyish white with a white ring around its neck and the other is brown
at the front wings are grey and head is a dark colour.and i was wondering what breed they are the white
one is very ioud so i think its a hen and the colourd one is really quiet will try and post photos if i can
thanks big al

Hi al :),
Welcome, sorry for the delay in response. Would love to see photos! Good on you for taking them on.
I will help where I can! Sounds like they were dumped :( where are you based?
Zo

hi zo
yes i think you are right about them being dumped.as all the other ducks & geese had hatched all their
eggs and had all left the pond a month or 2 before these ducklings showed up.plus someone noticed
a youngish couple drop something out of a box into the pond.all i can think of is the browny coloured one is
very quiet where as the white/grey one is really noisy.better than any guard dog.iam based in royton about
ten miles out from manchester

yeh your right.
but they are fine now and about 8 /9 week old
still trying to put pictures on forum but not letting me
for some reason.will try to e-mail them,al :-)17

Hi Al,
Posting photos here is a bit of a dark art! Have a look at:
Keeping chickens > General chickens forum > Photos of chickens > Stickies > Help with posting photos (parts 1 and 2)
