We have two Pekins, a Frizzel Buff and Pekin Lavenda.
Now we have recently bought two more hens, a Pekin Cookoo and another that we don't know what it is.
We believe the new ones have now started laying, the eggs are a little larger than what the other hens are laying and the two we have had so far have had a small amount of blood on.
Is this anything to worry about?

If the girls bleed the other may peck at it, seems that'show I lost of of my girls recently. Keep an eye on them

If its just a small amount of blood, just on the eggs, its probably nothing to worry about, just the pullets getting used to laying for the first few times and producing a bit bigger eggs than they can comfortably manage until they're fully mature. (ouch!) If the girls themselves are bleeding from the vent, or there is any sign of prolapse from the vent, then as Bickerton says, this is more serious as the others will pile in and attack at the sight of blood and won't stop. If this should happen, separate the injured bird immediately as she will be in danger from the rest.
Just keep a careful eye on them for the time being and watch out for developments.

One of my pekins gets blood spots on her eggs, but not all the time and its not harmed her in any way. If the girls are young and its only on the eggs, as Marigold says, don't worry.
