BIG problems settling American Stag Turkey in

I have just been given a 3 year old American Stag Turkey as a friend couldnt keep him anymore. He has arrived today slightly stressed with the car journey and when put in my coop (its a very large coop designed to be almost free-range but well protected from predators) he has flown at the netting and injured his leg. Now he is just sat in the sunshine but whenever I go near him he freaks out and flies at the netting again.
Does anyone have any suggestions to calm him down? Im hoping he has just caught his leg and in a few days it will be healed. I dont know what to do about him at bed time as I wont be able to walk him into the hut as he will just panic again?!?

Any suggestions would be most welcome as I hate seeing him stressed!!!

P.S He is not going to be eaten!

Hi, he should settle down- just take your time and go slowly- he could do with a friend or two if possible they like company of their own kind- i am sure he will be walking around and tame in no time.

Catching him last night to put him in the hut was traumatic to say the least. He kept throwing himself against the wire. It breaks my heart to see him to frightened. Got 2x ladies on order for him but in the mean time I want him to be happy.
He is still limping very badly.

Apple Cider Vinegar in the water @2% is a great for helping birds cope with stress. Turkeys can stop drinking for a while though if your water supply 'tastes' different to him - At shows, some Turkeys won't drink much unless you take your own water from home..
