Big egg

Agghh! She was doing well I thought apart from the eggs. Got home today and she's been pecked into a mess. Swollen vent and blood. Defiantly at do something point now. Keeping her seperate until sorted.
Have washed her with salt solution. Anything else need doing? She may have prolapsed earlier as the injuries are inside but not at the moment.

They are very pretty young girls Marigold. Many congratulations!

Re the eggshell business, I wonder if Blaze gets sun Rick? Vitamin D is so good for facilitating mineral absorption. Like the B vitamins, no minerals should be given in isolation or they unbalance everything else, so it may be worth trying a multimineral or a seaweed supplement, which can do no harm.

Thanks Chickenfan. They do get sun mixed with shade.
I've got some hemorrhoid cream (without local anesthetic) and it seemed to help the swelling. She isn't prolapsed, i don't think, but the opening to the oviduct is more visible than normal (oh so that's where it is!) due to the swelling and hard scar tissue around that area. So it's protruding a bit but not inside out. Have put her on a corn only diet and will cover the cage she is in to keep her in low light (to maybe stop her laying) until I can get her to the vet (hopefully tomorrow)

I'm sorry she is in such a bad way Rick and that she is so programmed to lay eggs. Good idea re the wheat only diet and low light for the moment. I saw earlier in the post that you thought about the hormone implant for her. I looked into this a bit for Joanna. BHWT Vet here thought it was not particularly successful in the birds she has given it to. Its very expensive too and doesn't always last long. Good luck with her!
