I am planning on growing on turkey poults this year for xmas, they will be free range and i wont be giving them any additional light just normal daylight hours

My question is when is the best time to buy the poults in so they ready for xmas ?

Thanks

I guess it depends on the speed at which they grow - commercial meat birds would be faster growing I think April / May is the time most people hatch the slower growing breeds.

yes commercial broad breasted grow much faster than heritage breeds. A high protein diet of course helps them along, something like broiler finisher its commonly called, you can get a turkey specific one. I have heard that too much corn can make a difference to the taste of meat. I dont eat my turkeys but i beleve for heritage breeds depending on the type it may take up to and beyond 6 months.
