Hi there, i'm thinking of getting a couple of banatm pullets and wondered if it would be ok to keep them in with my 3 quail until they are big enough to go with the other hens? I think if I put them staright in with the big hens they would get bullied. Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We have Brown English Leghorn Bantams. They are so fast the other hens can't get anywhere near them, but obviously they need room to manouvre. We also have Partridge Wyandotte Bantams and they are so vicious the other hens don't want to get near them so we have to make sure the other hens have enough room to escape. So I think it all depends on the nature of your bantam pullets. I think either way they may upset your quail. Obviously you can't put them straight in with the hens at any stage, the will need one or preferably two weeks familarisation without actual contact or they may be attacked by the whole flock as intruders.

Thanks for your reply. I've decided against putting them with the quail! Instead I have sectioned off an area next to the big hens. So they can live in there for a couple of weeks and they will get used to each other through the wire. So hopefully that should work! Its light Sussex bantams I'm getting and hope to pick them up at the weekend. Thanks again
