My partridge silkie approx 28 weeks keeps laying down and cannot seem to get up.

She can walk and run, has been in the garden all day, she can hop up onto the step about 5 inches high, is eating normally.
She was walking about fine until i went to put them back into their coop, the other 2 were in there like a shot and when i looked round she was over where i left her trying to get up.
I saw her do it the other day and i picked her up and gave her a foot massage, because i thought the cockeril had squashed in the rush to get out of the coop.
As soon as you pick her up she seems fine and wants to get on with her life.
Does anyone have any ideas.
She is not laying yet and seems very small, can you get a runt in the chicken community
just my luck as well as having a cockeril in the 3 that i bought.

Hi BB--has she lost weight despite eating? Is she not able to get up due to loss of balance/looking weak on one side? These could indicate a neurological cause , or do you think she may have a limp or similar ? due to injury. Id make sure she is away from the cockerel and any others that might annoy her so she can rest quitely, hopefully if its an injury she will then recover. If she deteriorates at all I would get the vets opinion to exclude any infective neurological cause . Did she come from a breeder who vaccinates ? Ros

She walks perfectly normal. She has no limp. I cant say i have noticed that she has lost weight as she was only 11 weeks when i got her, but she has not got much bigger since then. She just doesnt seem to put hardly any weight on, if i pick her up she feels like she has no meat on her. The cockeril has no interest in her, he does not try to mount her, although she cuddles up to him if they have a nap.
I really cant see anything wrong with her as such other than she sometimes just cant seem to get up.
I dont know if the birds were vaccinated or not, she came from a farm where they used the eggs in a cafe on the premesis.

She should be able to get up unless shes ill. Mites/worms etc all taken care of? Even the tiny silkies will grow a lot after 11 weeks. There must be something going on, would it be possible to get someone like the farm she came from to see what they think or the vet?Ros
