Hi all, Well The ducks are 4 1/2 weeks old today and they're going outside cos they stink! My questions is....what bedding do they need in the shed? Just hay like inside or what? Sawdust ok or not? What about the heat lamp? Does it stay on all day or just periods of time? I'm here all day everyday anyhow so doesn't really matter, They have quite a lot of feathers now! Any info is welcome please as this is the first time with ducks. Thank you x Natalie x

Hi, at nearly five weeks, with the warm weather ,they shouldn't need heat- as long as the house is dry and draught free- you can use straw or shavings- hay is not good- it is feed not bedding :) They are a lot hardier than chicks- feather up quicker and need less heat.

Hi David, thanks for the quick reply, I did actually mean straw and not hay. Ooooo I'm so excited that they will be out tonight. hubby is still out there now thank god! There not actually lying when people say they stink  when do they need the paddling pool set up, recently I have been putting them in a make shift pen with a paint tray of water until they go bk in their cage. When can they have a ful time pool? Thanks. Natalie x

Hi, if the weather is warm - they can have a pool now- just make sure they are dry before dark- don't let them go to bed wet- they should have some preen gland oil by now so should be semi-waterproof :)
regards, David :)
