I have a flock of young RIR and Sex Link Pullets about 9 wks old in my coop right now... My Ameraucanas (sp) Pullets are about 6 wks old and much to big for the Brooding "section" anymore. Id like for ALL for flock to be together. What is the best way to introduce them all and move them in with each other?
Thanks so much!! any advice will be super helpful since I also have a flock of 1.5 wk old Silkies (20 count), Turkens (15), and an assortment of Cochin Bantams (25) that will also need introducing in a few weeks!
THANKS!!!

Well if you can move them all into a new hut and pen at the same time. That way no one has the upper hand regarding territory. But when ever you introduce new stock to an established flock try and do it at night when they have roosted. That way they all start fresh in the morning coming out of the same shed. Then you are going to have to sit back and watch as they sort out their pecking order. If a few get given a rough time of things, then try setting up two huts with pens side by side so they can get accustomed to each other. Then after a few weeks take down the barrier and see what happens.

As for your bantam Cochins, unless you've been on the continent to purchase these, we don't have bantam Cochins in the UK. Do you mean Pekins? They are often mistaken for bantam Cochins but are a breed in their own right. I have seen a bantam Cochin and its really nothing like a Pekin when you see it.

I really have no idea regarding this one :D I do know that here (US) Ive never heard of a chicken breed called a Pekin  of course Ive only been caring for poultry for a couple of years and not as exp as many, so it could just be that only I havent heard of them... I know when I purchase my chicks from hatcheries or breeders that they have never offered them... only Cochins (which from my understanding are a breed in its own right from China)? Do you have pics of Pekin chicks I could see out of curiosity? Thanks :D

My only concern with this is that the way my coop is set up, its one HUGE coop with different "rooms" so to speak in it. And it *just* started to warm up enough here to start letting any of the flock out, so none of them have had the chance to roam about at all... ? Thanks!

Yep they probably are Cochin bantams, I just thought you were in the Uk.
Have a look at this site, everything Pekin. http://www.pekinbantams.com
It used to have a great forum which sadly folded.

In the U.S. I believe Pekins are called Cochin's,but I could be wrong.Pekins did originate from China, from Peking, not sure where Cochin's originated from.
If I've got it wrong,I'm sure someone will correct me :D .
