Just when you think everything is settling down!!!

Was giving one of our Pekins her once over for crawlies today, and as usual I turned her upside down for a couple of mins, with her body secured between my legs, so I could check her vent area. When I righted her, her nose was bubbling, which I wiped, and there was a small pool of fluid on the floor clearly from her nose.

I feel so guilty. Should i not be turning them upside down? I saw an experienced poultry person do this, and assumed that was the done thing??

The Pekin doesn't seem to be in any distress, I gave her a cuddle before putting her down and then she happily wandered off to eat etc....

They all finished antibiotics last week for some sort or respiratory virus. Any advice would be most welcome, and please don't be too harsh with me if I shouldn't be tipping them up.

Mind get tipped this way and that from time to time don't worry!

They will normally twist their head around so they are the right way. The fluid was most probably water - if they take a drink and you turn them with the head towards the ground, water will usually run straight back out of the crop. It might have got in the nose or looked like it came from that area.

I'm sure there will be no damage done...
