A difficult decision.

Oh Marigold! I'm so sorry to hear all your problems, that's more than enough for one family to deal with! You have your holiday to look forward to now and I hope you enjoy a relaxing one!

I'm afraid we don't go on holiday! Have only two dogs now, but wouldn't even consider putting them in kennels. About 10 years or so ago my parents used to move in to look after the dogs (we had a lot more then!), but they are elderly now and not able to do it. Besides the dogs, there is now the hens, hamsters and tropical fish! Really know how to avoid going away on holiday don't I !!!!!

We could only consider putting Trog in kennels for a couple of days in order to see our daughter and grandchild. I am afraid that on this occasion I shall just have to harden my heart and reflect that he has brought it on himself, and at least we shall still have him at the end of the weekend, rather than the alternative. Our search for holiday cottages always begins with 'do they take dogs?' And if the answer is no, we don't look any further, he always comes with us on holiday.
As for holiday cottages, has anyone else noticed that they seem to be at the stage in providing Internet access that they were with TV many years ago, and then with Feeview or satellite more recently, - ie a few offer broadband but not many. It's a good thing there's a nice Internet cafe in St David's!

Our search starts with "do you take chickens?" Marigold. Last time we went camping in Wales they all did, presumably because they hadn't experienced one before. When we arrived the lady at the desk asked if he was noisy? We said of course he is! So we had the spot furthest away from everyone and Bottom slept in the van so his singing at 4.30am didn't wake the other campers, or us.

:D that is a first Chris.
We only go on holiday FOR the dog now. Always to same place in the lakes and he sulks for a week when we come home... God knows why he loves it so much when he has dartmoor on his doorstep!
At least I'm now sure I'm not the only person who's pets lead the way, although the thought of other campers watching bottom going for a walk is highly amusing

He loved it BB. Used to wander around keeping to about 50 yards of us. If he wandered too far just a call would bring him back. He didn't like the beach much, but it was funny when we sat in the dunes and he started singing. About 200 people stopped in their tracks and looked to see where the noise came from. We took him shopping in Tenby, which amused the locals. But a Chinese lady was stunned -she walked up to me, pointed at Botty and said "Is a chicken!!!!" About 50 kids from the YHA came to photograph him for a portrait painting assignment they had, when we visited another beach. Got some great photos, but he wasn't that impressed with the sand castle I built for him.

Please can we see the photos?

Well the 'Control Technique' for the car comes first -I have to change the headlights to make it French and it's not that easy (no hard standing). Then a week camping in Gers (it's a 4 hour drive away) to see the 8 properties ( and video them all for Rosie). Then a week of wind-down. Then the rotorvator becomes a tractor (subject to a 9.3mm HSS twist drill). Then we'll see. Love to share the photos with you. Unexpected turn for the worst the last few days with some strange digestive complaint. Cuddled him to sleep earlier and he now seems settled. Photos have been downloaded to our Mac in a weird way so they need sorting out. Be patient and you can have a smile on Botty! Makes me smile anyway. Would love to share les photographies but please appreciate its a bit difficult a ce moment.

Bien sur, ,mais nous aimerions regarder les images du plage s'il vous plais ... My phone's getting seriously stressed about my writing in French & keeps trying to use its "initiative"; got to stop now before I stomp on it
