6 week old chicks roosting?

Hi all
I have just purchased 6week old chicks (2light sussex and 1 bluebell) and have put them in our old coop and was wondering are they too young to roost and if so should i remove the perches.........?

Hi Damien, If you are not going to show them- then i would leave the perches- they will perch when they are ready- more during the day at first - the only reason for not letting them perch too young is it can bend their breast bone- and would not be good for show birds- if not planning to show them then it is more natural for them to perch when they want to.
