Recently our rooster started to attack everyone. At the moment I only enter the coop with a broom because he is directly attacking and tries to jump in the back. I am afraid at the moment to let children collect the eggs. Did you ever have an aggressive roo? What are your advices to deal with that?

Hey @Sundheimer thanks for joining and welcome!
I haven't personally had any aggressive roosters like that but I have heard of folks having to dispatch roosters with poor temperament. I don't necessarily agree with that practice so I'd like to think there's other solutions but maybe someone else with more experience here can chime in.

I've not had any cockerels so far, so I’m not the most qualified person to comment. But I wouldn't want to be breeding from an aggressive cockerel, so I guess I'd be making room in the freezer...

I've had the same problem recently and was unable to resolve it. After me being injured several times, he fortunately died of natural causes one morning. He was the only one (of a dozen or so) that we have had an aggression problem with and if we are in that situation again it will be despatched immediately. I think once they get it into their head that everyone is a threat to their flock, nothing can change that perception.

Thanks for the informations, I think that I will put him on the chopping block...

What a tough decision but it does sound like the right one. Especially with little ones running around. You dont want them to grow up afraid of the birds @Sundheimer
Yes and I also dont want them to get injured when they enter the coop to collect eggs, tomorrow I will chop the aggressive rooster!
