That's what happened to me. Happily vegetarian since a teenager, but when I married (in my 30s), my husband didn't like vegetarian food. It was easier to just cook one meal.dianefairhall said:Similar with me. I've been mainly gardening in my new polycrub, raising veggies from seed. I also have outside beds so it's quite a lot of work and it won't wait. Most things are getting on nicely now although I've had a few failures because of the cold spring (and summer so far) so have had to buy in some plants.
I'd happily go back to being veggie, it's only OH that stops me as he does the cooking here. I just ask him not to put too much meat in my portion. We have, though, cut down on the amount of meat we eat and buy only quality stuff.
Goodness - I'm praying for some rain here!! It's hot, and very humid.bigyetiman said:Just busy with work and my mother, who is being quite difficult at the moment. Lucky if I get in before 9pm every day.
Strange how you go "off" foods. OH suddenly found she just couldn't face cheese in any shape or form, she never liked melted cheese anyway.
Our veg patch has been under water for the last week so everything is pretty much dead
21C here today! Hotter in other areas, I believe. However, they're saying it's to be more unsettled from the weekend, with showers.dianefairhall said:I thought you'd all been having a heatwave down south? Surprised you are waterlogged, BYM. We've had our share of rain but not to excess. Just been so cold. At least we are into double figures during the day, now.
I don’t know Diane. It was on a bit of rough ground so it’s hard to see the garden plants route. In fact no rational explanation seems likely. Perhaps human devilment.dianefairhall said:I'm not sure I'd recognise Japanese knotweed without looking it up but the awful Himalayan Balsam was a real problem in parts of Lancashire and Yorkshire when we lived there. It grows by water and its seedheads are explosive and the eeds distributed by the rivers and streams. I assume the knotweed is bird-borne or comes in on imported plants, Hen-Gen?
Been scorching here for a while now! A bit of rain last weekend, but nothing significant. I'm hoping for a bit of rain over the weekend. I can't handle the sticky, over 90% humidity, heat we've been having!bigyetiman said:It was warm and dry in March/April, then got hot until mid May, then it started raining, a really hot week in June, then rain again with torrential downpours and thunderstorms for 3 nights last week, and today has been first dry day, then rain again from tomorrow
