Hi,

My OH has just updated me on the weather as he was passing the showground on his way to work:-

All roads are perfectly clear of snow including the M6
Some snow remains on the grass verges from this mornings snowfall.

(We live 12 miles from the showground)

Sharron.

Sharron,

You are most kind. I will post this information in our Poultry News that automagically goes out to some other websites too and try to update it again later. I aim to leave about 5am tomorrow so I won't call you then ;-)

Maybe a good idea to edit you post and remove the number after the show just for your security. I'd hate it if any weirdos started calling you!

I was wondering if the roads were clear after hearing about the cars stuck on the M6 last night.

Hi,

Well its a different story this morning!!!

The snow has been steadily falling now for a couple of hours. Ground is covered by approx 2"

Fingers crossed we are off to the show at 12ish,

Tim- will remove number as advised this evening.

Thanks Sharron,

Are the main roads still moving?

I've got to make a decision on whether to cancel my trip tomorrow when I get up in the morning. I will of look at the travel sites and your fantastic updates! Thank you.

It has been snowing here too in Bedfordshire (first time) and there is a light dusting but it seems to be melting on the roads. The birds are not impressed!

Tim,

Sorry - never got round to visiting the site last night. SO I reckon you are either on your way or have cancelled??

If anyone else is considering travelling:-

VERY LIGHT SNOWFALL OVERNIGHT. ALL MAIN ROADS CLEAR.

There didn't seem to be vast numbers of people at the show yesterday. Lots of empty cages. But having never been before, we were not really sure what to expect. We were however, overwhelmed by the variety and quality of the birds. Sadly, despite been quite taken with a few sale birds, only came away with an egg holder :(

Hi Sharron,

That's ok - we had 8 inches of snow yesterday afternoon and I am well and truely stuck at home.

Rupert set off at 6am (he's near Coventry) and hopes to make it so we can at least get some photos of the winners.

Shame, I have a new camera hand me down from my dad and I was looking forward to giving it a thrash!

Ah well. Next year!

Hi Tim,

How disappointing for you! (and for so many others too)

Why is the show so close to xmas anyway? let alone the artic weather these last two winters?

I didn't take my camera yesterday either......

Also am confused how the show actually works, as some birds were taken home yesterday. So is each day judged individually?

We have had a bright sunny afternoon here, very very cold, but thankfully no more snow.

Rupert made it (he lives in Coventry)..

He said he had to stop 4 times to de-ice the windscreen and skidded on the motorway but he managed to get some photos of Championship Row! Well done Rupert..!

The show was closed early and he got home an hour ago, worn out.

He is uploading the photos at the moment - I can see a couple are there so far and they are looking pretty amazing.

I will get them edited and ready for the web this week. They will go on the Poultrykeeper Facebook page first (as it's easy to bulk upload) and then on the site over Christmas. Fancy Fowl should publish them in Feb I think, the way the publishing dates fall.

Yes, it's very close to Christmas. Not sure how the date of the show was chosen....
