This is quoted from elsewhere:

An Essex-based free range duck egg farmer has been forced to close down his operations after a dispute with his duck supplier that has left him unable to afford feed bills. The farmer, Ian Chisholm of the Fairtrade Egg Company, based at Norton Field Farm, near Ingatestone, has been unable to establish a laying flock as a high percentage of the ducklings delivered to him turned out to be male.
Ian says: “We have been forced to make a very hard commercial and most important welfare decision on the future of our ducks. We are entrapped in a dispute with our duck supplier, and because of the time it will take to get this in front of a court, we have no option but to give away our ducks to anyone that can provide a home for them.”
Visitors to the farm this weekend will be able to take away ducks, free of charge. Ian continues, “People can take away one, or as many ducks as they can realistically care for, we just want them to be well looked after. The girls are very good egg layers, in fact they lay very large eggs, which is what we have became known for within the egg industry.”
The farm will be open for duck collection from 10am to 5pm from Friday, 1 August to Sunday, 3 August. For more information call 01277 362414 or email [email protected]

Please contact the farm directly if you can help.
