I'm going - but it's the busiest show for me, trying to get photos and seeing so many people so I won't be taking my ducks. Their last show will be Solihull at the BWA National Waterfowl show.

See you there! :D

Hello Hannibal, I am going too, not showing though, looking forward to seeing your team and maybe sharing your success with a nice glass of chianti! :D :D

We're going - we went last year. It is awesome! We really enjoyed it. We had no idea just how many breeds of chicken etc there are. The work that goes into those chooks ... I mean fancy transporting one of those pied turkeys - after shampooing it! :)07

When you're back at work on Monday and the usual "what did you do at the weekend?" "Oh, we went to a hen show - with 5,000 odd entrants". It's worth it to see people's faces at work - :)11

Recommend the day out to anyone with a few garden hens - there's more than just the humble Warren hen type in the world! I think it's £9 to get in.

Here I go!!!!

First visit to a show, so thought I'd better make it one to aim for!! Off to the National tomorrow and really looking forward to it!!!

The flock is slowly growing, and I am praying that they will be good enough to put before a judge next year!!

Rupert and I have a photo booth - but in setting up last night, they have put us in a little room off the main hall and said we can't set up until mid-day.

They also wanted £70 for electric which for two 28W photography lights I thought was rather steep - which is why we've opted for the side room.

Hope to see you all here later anyway!

Had a great day yesterday but could hardly feel my feet last night. I got 9 rare breeds photographed (some would NOT stay still or pose!).

After the official show photographer for Fancy Fowl went home because of difficulty having a place to set up (I did feel very sorry for him) and his commitments today at a wedding, Rupert and I are providing the Fancy Fowl photos..! Gulp. I just hope I don't mess up - I'm rather amateur when it comes to photography!

Today, I'm hoping to get photos of a few more rare breeds first thing, then Rupert and I will get championship row and the awards ceremony.

Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!

Tim - I thought I saw you in the Chickens for Sale section yesterday - sorry didn't introduce myself as you looked like a "man on a mission".
Went with my OH and a neighbour. Really enjoyed ourselves. Very tempted to buy some more but resisted.
Sue. :D

Hi Tim - again
You were mid shutter drop when I interrupted you - but it sounds like you had a good day. We thought the show was awesome. Better venue than last year. All those beautiful birds - so shampoo'd

Hello again all that I met on the weekend - yes, I am so sorry I didn't get half as much time to talk to people as I would have liked.
After the official photographer left, Rupert and I were on a mission to get the Fancy Fowl photos and being a rather amateur photographer at the best of times, there was rather alot to check and do. I also hadn't realised that they would want certain poses - standing correctly with tails at the right angle, and feet in the right place and so on. I learnt so much in a short space of time!

Anyway.... I have about 500 photos to go through which will take most of the week. To be fair to Fancy Fowl I won't put them on poultrykeeper until it's out (it went to print today so won't be long I'm sure) but I will need that long to edit them and so on - but here's a little taster...

Orloff for Hannibal! Best rare breed:
