Seriously impressed, well done. Along with the rest of the population we have put weight on during lockdown, its a deep down need for comfort I think.

OH made the cake and it was delicious. Recipe copied into the recipe book, thanks for sharing. My first piece of cake since starting my diet. I have just gone under 12stone. Had to order all new works trousers and shirts. 2 stone 3lb I have lost by the way

You deserve a treat for doing so well. You ought to apply for a pay rise, imagine all that fuel you 're saving the bus company per year with the lower laden weight :)

That’s amazing. Well done!
If you had a crew cut, that would account for another kilo, maybe?

   I may lose my strength if I cut my hair

I may suggest the pay rise idea to my boss as I am now more economical fuel rise. Although I can't see it happening.
As to new clothes, I am wearing the works trousers at the moment, and I am not exactly a fashion icon, so baggy T shirts are ok. Although some of the tighter ones now fit perfectly

Thanks for all the kind words

And what makes you think you’re not a fashion icon, with your newly slim silhouette, tightly fitting new tops, and lovely hair? Maybe you just need to change your agent?

Ha Ha!

We had the last bit of teabread today at afternoon break with a cup of tea. We are doing the olive harvest, its hard work, and a shot of sugar was most welcome. We have another 2 days to go but I'm not sure if I can summon up the energy to make something else!

Are you talking to me or to BYM? How did you know that I'd lost 1 1/2 stone too?

I’ve always had the opposite problem - keeping my weight up. My colleagues on the staff at the school where I taught used to get infuriated when I got out my chocolate biscuits at break time and nibbled my way through them on medical grounds!

That sounds like hard work, how many acres ?
One good thing about the diet, is I have lost any desire for sugar. All those tea spoons in coffee added up.
Perhaps I will change my agent marigold

ell, its not ours, we are doing a friend's place as he can't travel over here. He has 18 trees and we have 10. Overall we may get 25-30l, so we aren't doing it to save money! To give you an idea we have now done 14 trees in 2 days, working roughly 9.30 - 16.30 with a bit of time off for coffee/lunch/tea. If we were younger or had more trees to do, then we'd probably squeeze a maximum extra 2 hours a day, but it would be tough.

I have an intolerance of white sugar. It gives me migraines. I'm ok with the very dark, sticky muscovado sugar, maybe because you don't use too much of that. But I have found that sugar is horribly addictive. A year or so ago, I found I could tolerate a small amount of sugar. So, I started treating myself to an odd square of chocolate. However, I quickly found I couldn't keep it at just having a little bit. Before I knew it, there came a day when I ate four bars of chocolate, almost one after the other! I just couldn't seem to stop. The only thing to do was to quite all sugar again. So, I'm now about a month off all sugar. I use either Xylitol or coconut blossom sugar for baking, and get one bar of sugar free chocolate a week. It's so hard to avoid though. Sugar is added to almost everything. Even savoury foods. It's bizarre! However, I do feel better without it, so I'm going to perservere. I have a rich fruitcake made for Christmas, but that's got muscavado sugar

You are right it is added to things that should never see sugar.
We had a leaflet come through our door for a well known coffee chain, advertising their wonderful Christmas latte's of various flavours, toppings etc. Some boasted that they were only 580 calories per large cup, and we worked out one with caramel, marshmallows etc had about 20 teaspoons of sugar in it.
A Muslim work colleague brought in some Aero mousses, as when his wife got home she looked at the back and they contain pork gelatin, obviously a big no for Muslims. But you think why put an animal product in a chocolate dessert, there are plant alternatives.

Wasn't McDonalds sued years ago, because their chips were not vegetarian? I think some of the Hindu community sued them, after finding that beef extract was added to the chips to enhance their flavour.

I've had the same problem with tinned vegetable soup (beef stock) and always have to ask what kind of stock or fat they use if I eat out. Meat products make me ill. Eating in Germany used to be a nightmare- I'd order a vegetarian salad, emphasising "vegetarian " & they'd sprinkle it with bits of ham or bacon...

When I first got together with my now husband, his mum would serve up two jugs of gravy at dinner & say that one was vegetarian. After a couple of times when I then spent the rest of the day in the bathroom being sick, she stopped putting meat juices in it...
