re-introducing a turkey

I was wondering if anyone had advise for us. We have 10 turkeys and one of them, a tom, hurt his leg pretty badly. I separated him from the bunch because they were gonna kill him. This was about 6 weeks ago. He is doing much better and is walking with a very slight limp at times. I walk him out to the turkey coop and he and the other toms do their thing and fight through the fence. I'm a little worried to let him back in because I'm just not sure if his leg is strong enough to deal with the other toms. (there are 3 other toms out there) Will he ever be able to join the other? Does anyone have any experience with this? I would sure appreciate any advise.
Thanks :)

Hi Possley, welcome to the forum.
It can be difficult to re-introduce a stag after he has been away from the flock. Certainly dont do it if he is not fully fit, and if you do at some point try to re-introduce him, make sure you will be around to perform a rescue if it goes badly. You could try putting all 4 of them in a new place where none of them consider it to be their territory, but that is not guaranteed to work.

Thanks Miks. I will def. be there when the time comes. I like the idea of neutral ground. I'll give it a few more weeks till he's stronger and give it a try. Wish us luck and thanks again for the info.
