We live in Crete and have free range chickens. Our lovely Clucky has just hatched 5 chicks and another is imminent. We are new to having our own chicks hatch so need advice on when we can let them with the rest of the flock. before this we have bought chicks at two weeks old and kept them separate until they are 13 weeks old and then successfully integrated them. So, how long do we need to keep Clucky and her chicks away from the others please? :)08

Thanks, they are lovely and the whole experience was amazing ... I mean, I always knew that chicks came from eggs, but when you actually see it happen ...WOW! The sixth one hatched yesterday so all done and dusted ... clever Clucky. It is wonderful to dee her bustling about oraginsing the chicks and teaching them how to peck at the food etc.

hi i would say leave them tell the chicks are around 13 - 16 weeks old they need to be strong enough an big enough to cope on there own without mum . i hatched under a broody last year for the first time 2 chicks out of 4 { 6 due to hatch over the next few days for this year } and i had to give the 2 away as they never really settled with my girls :( i was sad but happy as they went to someone who was on here and man they went to a very very good home .i am hoping for better luck this year ;)
