quick question for a friend of mine, hubby went round and clipped her other ducks wings last night but the mandarins were too hard to catch as they were very shy.
Do they need there wings clipping like normal ducks to stop them flying ?

she bought these ducks from an auction at the weekend and we have no idea, hubby clipped the wings of the mallards she bought cos she knew they definitely might fly away, how can we tell if they are pinioned? any ideas ? please

The British Waterfowl Association produced a really good leaflet on pinioning that was decided shouldn't go on the website (because of how some people may view it) but is available by request. If you compare the two wings though, you should see that one wing is shorter than the other where the outer bone is cut / removed.
