I wonder if anyone can help me to find a lovely new home for our mallard duck Yoda who is now 11 weeks old. Still unsure whether male or female but possibly male. Yoda was abandoned sadly 3 times by mum and ended up unintentially imprinting us during being rescued from his/her shell became stuck to the side of the shell for a long time. The other 8 ducklings were successfully hatched and reunited with mum but Yoda who was the last to hatch was left. When trying to reunite with mum, Yoda ran back into the house and mum left with all the ducklings. As this was during lockdown we were unable to transport Yoda and had guidance from a wildlife rehabilitation centre on how to look after Yoda. However Yoda seems a bit of a different kind of duck who loves being in the house despite encouragement to go outside prefers to waddle back in. The wildlife centre was trying to find a home but have been unsuccessful. My worry is that we would love Yoda to stay with us if Yoda wished but is beginning to fly and am worried that he/she may fly to the local lake where unfortunately we have just found out in the Autumn shoots take place which includes ducks. I do not wish to clip wings at all and feel that Yoda needs to be with other ducks and a new loving home with people who love ducks and where he doesn't get eaten, where Yoda will have the option to sleep/wander into the kitchen and interact with his/her new humans . Yoda actually loves to sit next to you and is very friendly and quite the character, a little demanding to and lets you know it! and we really hope that we can find Yoda a new duck haven preferably with lake or pond free from danger to be part of a new family.
