Is it easy to clip ducks wings? They haven't had their wings clipped and their previous owner said that they will not fly off.
Not too sure about that as they seem to do a lot of take offs around the garden now!
They have the full run of massive garden while I am around but would like to section off the part where their run is mainly so my dog can be let out without constant supervision.
I did put wire netting up to stop the dog which works fine but the ducks just fly over it!
I wish there was someone who lived close by to show me how to do it.

I don't know about ducks, but I got a very flighty Leghorn pullet recently who kept flying out of the chicken netting circle I use on the grass to restrain them when they are grazing. So I fixed the sort of fine netting you use to keep birds and butterflies off fruit bushes, all over the top of the circle. It's quite stretchy and easy to tie to the poles. It wouldn't stop a dog getting in if he was persistent, but the Leghorn just bounced off it when she tried to fly out.
Now she's older, I've given up and she flies out as soon as my back is turned - but then she just stays around the edge of the netting, laughing at the others through the mesh! I don't want to clip her wings, though this isn't difficult to do, as she's easy to catch.

Doing it on a duck is just like doing it on a chicken. It's easier to do with 2 people so 1 can hold an 1 can cut.

Hold the duck firmly under your arm and pull 1 of the wings out, if the duck is a bit restless tuck its head under the other wing which will help it calm down. The feathers you want to cut are the back ones closest to the tip and you need to cut roughly the first 8, don't cut them too far back though. You only need to do 1 wing as it unbalances them while trying to fly.

If you go to YouTube and input How to clip a chickens wings there a several demonstrations of how to actually do it. As Watson says the process is the same for any kind of bird.
