I have been looking around at making my own incubator/hatcher and wouldered if a heat pad that they use for snakes and lizards would work as a heat sauce rarther than useing a bulb. I carnt find one on the internet so im gessing that there is a reason for this please advise. Also what would you recommend to uses as a thermostate, many thanks

I think heat wire and a fan is best as you need an even temperature right through. Think the better thermostat is the ATC210. Important the switching band is less than 1 degree, preferably less than half a degree.
