Would this be big enough?

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and new to poultry :)

I am looking into getting 2 or 3 ducks (thinking Bantams or Calls but apparently Calls can be quite noisy?) as pets and was wondering if my Torts old pen would be of a suitable size for them,or if I would need to build a new enclosure area for them.
Internally the pen measures 6ft8 by just under 5ft, would this be large enough?

It has a brick wall at the back of it and is fully lined underneath with chicken wire, with double wood walls (planks and log roll on the outside and ply lined on the inside), so pretty predator proof.
I would be extending the height and adding a door so I could stand in easily to clean it out.

The flooring is currently woodbark/sand and some grass, what would a suitable flooring be?

Hiya :)

welcome!

Yes Calls are very very noisy and would likely not sit well with close neighbors!!!

I would say this area is too way to small for three ducks. How big can you go?

Call ducks are bred to be as noisy as hell!!:D I agree the pen would be way too small, ducks make a mess and love to squidge through grass and mud - they spend most of their day foraging. They also need something they can swim a bit in and submerge themselves totally in - I have a large plastic cow water tub for my 5 runners, it's 2 foot deep and about 4ft in diameter, I wouldn't go any smaller really, a paddling pool or old bath tub are also suitable, so you need to take that into consideration when building a pen.
