Yes, that's OK, flubendazole is the name of the drug, though it's usually sold as Flubenvet. The idea is that you give them ONLY as many treated pellets as they want to eat for 7 days, nothing extra, no free ranging, and each bird then eats the right amount for her own needs.
For two hens, weigh out 2 kilos of pellets. In another container, put a few of the pellets and stir in enough vegetable oil to lightly coat them. Add the Flubenvet powder, a level scoop for 2 hens, and stir it in well with a long spoon so it sticks to the coated pellets. Then gradually stir in the rest of the pellets and mix well. Empty the feeder and refill with treated pellets. A kilo each should last a week, but if not just mix a bit more. Don't give them any other treats, corn etc, or they might not eat enough pellets. Wear protective gloves and avoid breathing in any of the powder.
Actually, that's the recommended method, good for larger flocks, but it's not how I do it. The unofficial way is as follows;
-get a little pot about equal to two tablespoons, which will become the amount of treats you will give each hen every day.
-make up a nice treat mix of mixed corn, sunflower seeds, mealworms etc.
-measure out 14 of these little potfuls into a bowl, (i.e, 2 potfuls per day for 2 hens.) and add the oil and one scoop of Flubenvet and mix.
-each day, give them their two potfuls of mixed treats, in a bowl or dish so you can see it's all gone. It will only take a few seconds for them to eat the dose, but make sure they are both getting a fair share. If one is being bullied off the plate you will need to separate them.
- Then they can eat normally the rest of the day.
You have to keep treating them for a week so that the Flubenvet can deal with the worms which hatch from eggs in their gut during that time. It can only kill worms, not worm eggs. The dosage information on the VioVet site is wrong - you should re-treat them every 4-6 months, not every 3 weeks as they state.
