Why do we keep chickens?

Superb Article..thanks for posting that! Made me smile. :D

"My husband checks my deliveries of scaly leg ointment
and pigeon antibiotics to ensure they do not contain lightbulbs..."

Don't know why that tickled me so much - light bulbs may be useful!
The bit about getting into it for someone else's benefit and then it becoming a personal obsession also chimed:
'I've brought home these chicks - Awww do you think we could keep a couple?'
<research and parental mitherings later, not to mention traces of Auboise and poop in the living room>
... 'Mad, mad I tell you! Chickens, chickens - always the bloomin' chickens!'
... some blue eggs would go down well though.

But apart from nurture replacement therapy (just know you will be not impressed Hen-Gen)...
With corvids and raptors these lovely domestic birds are the pinnacle of the other main branch of evolution. Those pea sized brains, fizzing with primitive, fiercely practical, somehow alien and familiar, goings on, are very endearing.
Feathers as well - aren't feathers just sublime!

Put simply "more hens" disease. Wish all diseases were as gorgeous as this one, I've had it very now very severely for nearly 10 years. It has increased
by quadrupling in size. Cannot see it ever disappearing.
