white scales

One of my henhouses has white scales when I clean it out. Does this mean it might have some sort of mites, or do the birds have something like dandruff?

Have they recently been moulting? I think its just the scales that fall off the shafts of new feathers as they come in. I've noticed it in my coop as well. I expect they spread the scales all over the run but you can only notice it easily in the coop because they spend so long in a small space at this time of the year.
