Hi :D

We're going away for 5 days in late June, the youngest chicks will be about 7 weeks by then and the eldest at least 9 weeks. Do you think they would be ok going outside full time by then, if I gradually get them used to it a week or so beforehand? It'll just make matters easier for the person looking after them, although she doesn't mind at all if she's got to clean them out whilst they are still indoors.

Thanks, Ria :D

Hi, yes, they will be fine by then- as long as they have a nice dry, draught free coop and run- the weather should be better as well :)

I was also thinking that hopefully the weather will be nicer by then, and it would actually be nicer for the chicks to be outdoors instead of in the house in case it gets too stuffy.

When do you think I should start weaning them off the heat? As they are different breeds (pekin bantams, orp and hybrids) each breeder has told me different, of course!

Thanks for your help David :D

Well i would keep them all on heat until 6 weeks old then just heat at night for a few days then no heat but inside for a day then out :) By 6 weeks they will be fine :)
regards, David :)
