The last stage of the egg producing process is adding the shell, so this was an egg laid earlier than it would normally be. This can be the result of shock during the night when the egg is dropped as a reflex action, presumably to reduce their weight and aid their escape. What you might be seeing is the membrane which surrounds the contents before the shell goes on and the shell formation hasn't started. We have eggs like that laid from time to time and it's nothing to worry about unless it becomes a regular occurrence. What is very important to do is remove the broken egg before the contents are eaten, because chickens love raw egg and when they make the mental connection to 'a whole egg contains what they like to eat' they will break into them to get the contents. That 'egg eating' habit is very difficult to stop, although it can be achieved sometimes.
