Anyone would think I was approaching with treats. I was actually gradually getting closer and closer to the run with the heavy strimmer going at full throttle! This lady was fascinated, and just sauntered up and down inside the fence, watching me! The noise and the flying grass didn't phase her in the slightest!

Strange isn't it how some hens will run a mile at the slightest disturbance and others come to investigate. Nice pic glad they are settling in nicely

I have to be very careful when strimming the runs because some of ours sit waiting for displaced insects and could easily be blinded by flying debris. We've switched from petrol to electric because some get panicked by the noise.

She's behind a 2.5mm weldmesh wall,so she's quite safe, really. The chicken pen is 70ft x 44, and there are other large areas beyond that that also need strimming, so an electric strimmer wouldn't last any time here!
