Hi i have had my ducks now for about 4 months & i have a raised pond with a ramp for them to swim in. The area around there pond is now becoming pretty muddy :( What can i put down around there pond to help reduce the muddy area ? I was thinking of gravel but am worried any sharp bits might hurt there web feet ? Any suggestions would be great thanks

Hello, some people use gravel- but you can get round small pebbles or shingle which have no sharp edges- it's more expensive but better for their feet :)

Hi David

Thanks for your reply I popped out this morning to have a look round B&Q & managed to find some cheap smooth rounded value gravel which look like small round pebbles. Have just now put down 4 bags & it makes the mud look better already :) The ducks seem weary of it for now & are keeping off it but hopefully they should get used to it in time. Thanks for your help.

hi we have laid our pond on concrete slabs about 12 slabs have been put down with the plastic pond on top and i hose it down when it gets to much poo on it, keeps it looking nice and clean, does work well and they have a pop hole that leads them out onto the grass which has been kept nice for the moment.
