My 6 coturnix girls have live peacefully and happily in their grass run for over two months now. They are calm and tame and used to me coming to sort out their food, water etc and open the cage to collect the eggs they each lay every day. But this morning two of them were in a panic at the sight of me (no, I wasn't wearing a funny hat or anything.) Before I had done anything, one of the white ones started boinking, flinging herself up against the wire top of the cage, as did the little wild-colour brown one who is less tame than the others. None of them have ever done that before. The other four seemed normal and tucked into their mealworms as usual. There was nothing in the garden to alarm them, and no birds of prey flying over, (once or twice Ive noticed them all freeze when this happens) but when I went down later in the day, and observed them from a distance, the white one and the brown one were still spooked and restless. These two seem perfectly healthy and are not off balance or uncoordinated, just seem scared and jumpy. This is strange since the rest appear unaffected. Any ideas, anyone?
