On the strength of your suggestion, Marigold, I google imaged Weigela. Never knew there were so many species and varieties. Right from word go spotted the foliage was identical. Eventually found it. Weigela middendorffiana. Thanks for your help. I can now order some more and help the bees.

I'm glad that's what it is, as it was my thought (weigela) as well, but I discounted it as the flowers look different to the ones I am familiar with. However, now I can see there are more varities of a greater divergence than I though possible, so I have learnt something.
